Amani Al-Azzam, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, conducted a field visit to Al-Baha company for Caustic Soda and Chlorine industry located in Al-Dulail, Az-Zarqa governorate. Eng. Mufeed Al-Gaood, the Chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors, along with a specialized team, welcomed the Ministry’s delegation. During the visit, Al-Azzam was briefed on the company’s initiatives towards enhancing energy efficiency within the factory. This included the implementation of a program to monitor energy consumption per production unit and the utilization of hydrogen, a byproduct, as an alternative fuel in the boiler, resulting in a remarkable 50% reduction in fuel consumption. Al-Azzam and the accompanying delegation were given a tour of the factory premises. Engineer Abdullah Al-Gaood, the manager of research and development department in the company, provided a comprehensive overview of various facilities, such as the alkaline electrolyzer for water analysis, the chlorine drying unit, the hydrogen unit, and the deionized water production unit. He emphasized the company’s commitment to transitioning towards full hydrogen utilization in the future. Furthermore, Engineer Mufeed Al-Gaood, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Baha, outlined the challenges the company faces in terms of electrical energy supply requirements. He also shared the company’s vision of achieving green certification for its products by implementing renewable energy systems capable of meeting all required consumption. Al-Azzam commended the company’s endeavors, established in 2006, and its factory, which received the Green Factory Award during its inaugural session (2022-2023), for exemplifying environmental sustainability and manufacturing operation continuity through resource optimization. The company’s adoption of the latest bipolar membrane cell technology (INEOS Technology) was highlighted for its environmentally friendly nature, safeguarding the health of employees and community members.
